Treasurer - Arlene Rey![]()
I was born and raised in rural Saskatchewan and being the eldest of 6 children, I learned to be responsible and organized at an early age. I am a “town girl” who moved to the “city girl”. However, I’m a prairie girl at heart as there is nothing like the clear skies, sunsets and the open road. I have fond memories of my sisters and me helping our Mom (a CWL member) at those church fundraising events of teas, bake sales and fall suppers. We were also part of the church youth choir. I moved to Saskatoon in 1975 and attended university and legal secretarial school. I started working for the City of Saskatoon in 1979. My various jobs were in Tax, License, Parking Tickets, Payroll, Investments, Assessment, Customer Service (including Cashier) and Finance. The last half of my career (18 of 36.7 years) was in Accounts Payable where I handled my own external clients as well as dealing with Accounts Payable Clerks in all City Departments. I enjoyed this job the most. In 2001 I became a homeowner in Westmount and decided to check out the Community Association. I helped by doing a newsletter, becoming Treasurer for a 2 year term and teaching Beginner and Intermediate Knitting at Westmount School. My interests and hobbies include knitting, gardening, singing with Joy of Vox, playing the ukulele and I’m trying to fit in reading. I used to curl but now I’m an avid fan.
In 2006 I became a CWL member. After encouragement and support, I became the Regional Chair for Our Lady of Grace in Saskatoon for a 2 year term. After I retired, I was curious about the CWL Clothing Depot and this led me to being Treasurer for a 2 year term. I am happy to use my accounting skills for such worthy cause. I regularly attended our CWL council meetings and became Organization Chair (now called Vice President) and am currently President of my council. Ever since I attended the National Convention in Calgary, I had wanted to help with Registration. My most recent accomplishment has been Chair of the Registration and Credentials Committee for the National CWL Convention in Saskatoon in 2024. It was a lifetime opportunity and the volunteers were fabulous!
“Lord send me, Here I am” My journey has led me to be your Saskatchewan Provincial Treasurer. I will do so with the help and Grace of God. I humbly accept and my faith will grow stronger with my involvement in the CWL.
