Margaret Schwab

Life Member Liaison

I first joined CWL at St. Peter the Apostle parish in Saskatoon in 1976 then moved to Holy Spirit parish where I continued my involvement in the League.

After some time, I moved on to the Saskatoon Diocesan council where I have held positions of Education chair, Spiritual Development chair, Organization chair/President elect, President, and Past president/Archivist.  Once I joined the Provincial council, I held the positions of Resolutions, Spiritual development, Organization, President and past president. Now I have taken on the position of Life Member Liaison.

I was very happy to be elected to the National Council in 2021 where I serve as Education and Health Standing Committee Chair. It continues to be a great learning experience and a wonderful experience.

In between parish and diocesan activities, I have also been on the CWL Clothing Depot board serving one term as chairperson. I was Co-chair of the 2003 National CWL convention held in Saskatoon and spent 6 years representing CWL on the Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools foundation where I served one term as chairperson as well.

When I am not involved with CWL, I am active in Saskatoon Quilters Guild, as well as having spent many years of involvement with the Girl Guides of Canada. In 2013, I retired from Prairie Diagnostic Service, WCVM, where I worked as a laboratory technologist, supplying diagnostic services to the Veterinarians in the Western provinces.  Upon my retirement, I rejoined Guiding as a Trefoil Guild member.  I love to sew and quilting has become quite a passion.

My husband, Don and I have one son and two daughters. While we enjoyed being parents, nothing compares to our current pastime of being grandparents to a wonderful grandson and four beautiful granddaughters.
