Catholic Women's League of Saskatchewan

Annette Bley

Recording and Corresponding Secretary

I have been a member of the Catholic Women’s League for 48 years.  In the beginning when our children were young I was mostly a “spiritual member”.  In later years with more free time available I went on to serve as president of my council – St. John Bosco Parish in Saskatoon – three times (two of those times would be shared with another member.) I also served on numerous other convenorships.

I was raised on a farm near Annaheim, SK and married Harold Bley in 1969.  We moved to Saskatoon where he was employed as a journeyman carpenter and I was employed mostly in doctors’ offices doing office administration.  However, in 2005 I was hired by St. Patrick Parish in Saskatoon until my retirement in 2020. Harold and I were married just three weeks short of our forty-fifth anniversary when he passed away in 2014. We have two children:  a son and a daughter, 2 granddaughters and if God is willing I will become a great grandmother in November, 2022.

The Diocesan sponsored Lay Formation Program at Queen’s House Retreat Centre helped me greatly in my personal faith journey from 2015 – 2017. Music ministry is my main area of service in my parish.

Travel has been a big part of my interests. Trips most memorable are three pilgrimages I was privileged to be a part of:  Italy in 2012 with Fr. Kevin McGee celebrating his 15th Anniversary to the priesthood; Mexico City and Our Lady of Guadalupe Basilica in 2016 with Bishop Bryan Bayda where we got to see “the tilma”; and the Holy Land in 2017 with Deb Rolfes and Fr. Michael Averyt chaplain. Another special trip was with my daughter to the Netherlands, Germany (where my parents were born) and Austria.

Television programs that I most enjoy watching are curling, Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Toronto Blue Jays.

With God’s help, I am looking forward to serving as Recording Secretary for Saskatchewan Provincial Council of The Catholic Women’s League of Canada.
